Is it alright or all right?

Formal written English still prefers two words for this common phrase.

Example:

  • It’s all right to ask Future Perfect for help with English.

However, the other version ‘alright’ is becoming more and more popular and is seen as consistent with other words in similar groupings, such as ‘altogether’, ‘almost’ and ‘already’.

Example:

  • It’s alright to ask for help with English.
